Grants and Workshops
GRANTS
The Board of Education should be informed when grants are being worked on or approved.
Teachers should notify a site administrator when applying for all grants.
Donors Choose.org
Donors Choose is an online charity connecting classrooms to those who can help. Teachers can post a project
for which they need donations (such as a set of art supplies) and others donate so the
dream can become reality. In addition, the Sonic Corp. is holding a
partner contest called Limeades for Learning which involves voting for the best projects
on Donors Choose. Voting starts August 30.
Best Buy Teach 15 Contest
The Teach@15 Award program helps schools serving any grades 7-12 meet their technology needs. Teens
(age 13-18) who are registered members on at15.com ("Members") can nominate their schools to win a Teach@15 Award.
Members can vote once a day for 15 days for one nomination. Every 15 days, Best Buy will award 3 schools with Best Buy Gift
Cards based on member votes. The school with the most votes will win $1,500, second most votes wins
$1,000 and third most votes wins $500.
Digital Wish
This site works to connect donors with educators in need of technology products. After setting up a
detailed lesson plan, teachers add wish-list items, such as digital cameras, overhead projectors,
and interactive whiteboards to their accounts. Then, corporate and individual donors choose projects
they want to support. Once a wish is granted, Digital Wish verifies the wish by contacting the
school administration. Each donated item is shipped directly to the school as soon as a payment is
processed. In addition to acting as an online charity, the site offers educators ideas on
independent fundraising campaigns and grant-writing efforts.
Anheuser-Busch Community Grant
Anheuser-Busch places education as one of its primary focus areas.
Contributions are primarily limited to organizations located in communities where the company and
its subsidiaries operate major facilities and where its employees and their families live and work.
See the web site for more information about applying.
Dreyer's
(Ice Cream) Foundation Grants The Foundation makes small grants ($3,000
or less) and donates ice cream products and gift certificates/auction items to
bona fide nonprofit organizations for events. Grant is ongoing; mail in requests
at least 8 weeks prior to an event.
National
Council of Mathematics Teachers A wide range of grant programs to support
classroom math teachers and the teaching of mathematical knowledge. Various
deadlines.
