Any of your students doing a boo-tiful job on their homework this month? Let them know, with this page of Halloween stickers (requires printable sticker paper).
HALLOWEEN COORDINATE GRAPHING:
What will students end up with if they plot these points correctly on a grid? A jack-o-lantern - but don't tell them; let them find out for themselves!

Harvest Art and Activities
PUMPKINS IN THE PRIMARY CLASSROOM:
Find a list of appropriate literature to use in the primary classroom for exploring a pumpkin theme, then scroll down for some excellent activities to investigate all aspects of this popular harvest fruit.
PICK A PUMPKIN:
Students will select one of the pumpkins in the pumpkin patch to design a face; the pumpkin will then animate and dance to "Turkey in the Straw".
MORE PUMPKINS FOR KIDS:
Need some math activities to do after your pumpkin field trip this year? Look at symmetry, measurements, shapes, thickness, number of seeds, etc., or paint faces on your pumpkins and create pumpkin face stories, as described here.
HALLOWEEN MATH:
Students will be counting all the different Halloween treats, then filling in the graph with this printable worksheet. After completing the math, they can cut out both pumpkin pieces, color the candy, and attach the handle.
PAPER STRIP PUMPKIN:
You'll need to construct a core for this harvest art project; save your empty paper towel tubes. Then either paint your papers (a wonderful project in itself for students), or use construction paper (or craft foam) to form these strip pumpkins.
LOTS OF PUMPKIN MATH!

Pump (kin!) up the pace this month with some great math practice - with pumpkins! Choose from any of the activities at the above links to do some harvest and pumpkin-themed math in your elementary classrooms.
PLANT DYE PAINTS:
Before our paint came in tubes and jars, we had to extract plant dyes and juices to collect various pigments. Students can experiment with getting their paint dyes from natural sources with this art and science lesson plan, perhaps using the lesson as a science fair entry. Students will use beets, spinach, red onion skins, and black walnuts for the experiment. See what other dyes your students can find, and offer strips of old, clean sheets (try getting them from thrift stores) to use their color dyes on, as well as the painting ideas suggested here.
FOLK ART PUMPKINS:
These folk art pumpkins are beautiful! Students will trace a wave design directly on the pumpkins, and then fill it in with tacks. Use one color or a wide variety of colors for a bolder impact.
HARVEST SKIES WITH VINCENT VAN GOGH:
Oil pastels work really well with this exercise. Students will choose harvest colors to transform the skies with bold strokes, a la Vincent Van Gogh. Find further instructions here.
